The course sounds good, is it public parkland or farmland? - i've never been there.

Hi
Misterton Hall has been a venue for cyclo-cross racing for over 15 years.
The course is based around a private estate. We have access to fast sections of tarmac, woodland ascents/descents, strength sapping meadows and gravel paths.

I'm hoping the course will test your speed, endurance, agility and balance.

There is a gallery of photos of a previous race on:

Mrs Craven -home/land owner - is really looking forward to seeing everyone once again.
She has been very pro-active ensuring the woodlands have cleared of fallen trees and allowing the race to pass directly in front of the house.

Hi
I have spent the day on 'gardening duty' at Misterton Hall. Smile

I have designed the course on circuits I used to really enjoy ensuring everyone gets a good challenge.

Course details.
Under 10's and 12's
The youngsters will be contesting a race based on the same course as last year.
Start in the field pass through the finish and down the grass field, complete 180 degree turn and out the bottom gate to turn left along a shale path. At the end of the path they complete a left, then right turn and climb into the woodland.
In the woodland they will complete a gradual downhill slope that loops back on it's self as the course gradually climbs back out of the woods to pass back through the start.

The course is a good challenge with a variety of different surfaces.
BEWARE the UNDER 10's and 12's COURSE is run in the OPPOSITE direction to subsequent races.

Youths, Jun, Vets, Ladies and Seniors
Start in the field and climb away from the start followed by sweeping turns and climb to pass through the finish. You will then enter the first woodland - descent and climb - out of woodland onto shale path (50m) - turn right onto grassland and retrace parallel to shale path. Over a bridge to climb on shale path around the perimeter of the second field (600m). Enter field to complete a sweeping descent and grassland climb. Enter second woodland (PIT) to climb, descend and climb out through the trees into the third field.
Across field and out onto a shale path that cuts through the third woodland (800m). As you exit the woodland you complete a couple of camber descents and ascents to climb through the woodland (new section) to re-enter third field. Across the field back into the second woodland - sweeping turn (PITS) out of the gate onto fast tarmac section.
Follow the road (800m) past changing rooms and toilets. Left turn followed by a sequence of tight corners, through hedgerow and over small bridge.
The race will then follow a concrete path up through an orchard towards the Hall. Through the archway onto the front of Misterton Hall, left onto the main driveway. Short section (60m) then TIGHT left into Start and finish field to complete one lap.

The weather forecast for Saturday looks shocking affraid the ground traditionally drains very well.

The Welland Valley Whizz Kids (Youth section of the Welland Valley) will be pre-riding the circuits on Saturday to put down a racing line Smile

PLEASE Don't forget to pay £1 for parking. All takings will go towards the upkeep of the Hall. Mrs Craven has been extremely helpful to allowing us to use new sections or previously rarely used areas of the estate.

After the Whizz Kids raced round the U10's and 12's circuit today in the rain I have decided to increase the length of the U12's course only by including an extra loop in the start and finish field.

Sections of the course are quite bumpy for everyone.

Prize list is about £700 across all the races. Smile

See you all in the morning.

Hi
Thank you all for an enjoyable day - my highlight was the look of glee on the young lads face when he won the draw for the Dawes Bike. Does anyone know his name? In my rush to ensure the U10's and 12's got their prize I didn’t catch his name.

It was great that so many riders personally thanked Mrs Craven, even more so when Dan Booth (1st Sen) said a few words at the end of the Senior Prize presentation. I know Mrs Craven very much appreciated the thanks.

A personal thank you to the WMCCL Co-ordinators, Gordon/Judy Siers, club members, family and friends for their support today.
They all contributed towards ensuring 300 competitors enjoyed a superb days racing.

Special thanks to Mrs Craven, Neil Holman @ George Halls Cycles and Lawrence Cox @ Dawes.

£260 was taken for car parking, this will be donated to Misterton Hall Charitable Trust for the use of the splendid grounds.

Fantastic course - a big improvement on last year IMO, as it was much more flowing and technical - and featured much less long grass! Really enjoyed the fact that the course incorporated the house cheers

All we need now are the results...Wink
